For Distribuție Energie Oltenia, ADREM carried out modernization works on medium-voltage overhead power lines in Olt County, by installing insulating sheaths on the conductors of the 20 kV networks. The main objective of the project was to increase the reliability of the distribution infrastructure and reduce the number of incidents that can lead to interruptions in the electricity supply.

The interventions were carried out on several medium voltage lines in the Caracal, Scornicești and Corabia areas, including on the routes of the 20 kV Caracal – Plăviceni Station, the 20 kV Grădiște – SIUHE Slătioara OHL, the 20 kV Corabia – TCH Izbiceni OHL, the 20 kV Corabia – Irrigation 6 OHL and the 20 kV Corabia – Corabia City OHL.

The implemented solution consisted of installing insulating sheaths in the insulator area, both on the poles equipped with concrete brackets and on those with metal brackets. These equipment have the role of additionally insulating the electrical conductors and preventing the occurrence of defects caused by birds, vegetation or other foreign bodies that can accidentally come into contact with the live elements. By reducing the number of short circuits and rapid automatic restarts (RAR), the distribution operator benefits from a significant increase in continuity in the supply to consumers.

The execution of the works was carried out within a strict schedule, in order to comply with the performance indicators established by ANRE regarding the electricity distribution service. In order to limit the duration of the interruptions necessary for the interventions, the project mobilized approximately 20 electricians daily, including specialized personnel from Dolj and Teleorman counties.

One of the major challenges of the project was the difficult access to the sites. Most of the lines crossed farmland under operation, and access by machinery was not possible in many areas. The intervention teams manually transported the equipment, materials and means of protection over considerable distances, carrying out the activities in difficult terrain and operating conditions.

By completing the works, Distribuție Energie Oltenia benefits from a safer and more reliable medium voltage infrastructure, with a reduced risk of damage and with an increased capacity to ensure the continuity of supply for consumers in Olt County.
