Modernization and digitization of the distribution network in Butoiesti commune, Mehedinti county

ADREM, as consortium leader, contributes to the implementation of one of the most complex projects for the modernization of the electricity distribution infrastructure carried out in Mehedinti County. Carried out for Distribuție Energie Oltenia and financed by non-reimbursable European funds, the project aims to transform a conventional network into a modern, digitized infrastructure ready to meet the current and future requirements of consumers.

The investment covers the entire Butoiești commune and includes the modernization of medium and low voltage networks, the development of telecommunications infrastructure, the installation of intelligent equipment and the complete integration of the network into modern monitoring and control platforms. The main objective is to increase power security, reduce technological losses and improve the operational performance of the distribution system.

One of the important stages of the project was implemented in the Buicești area, where ADREM teams carried out complex works to reconfigure and modernize the electricity grid. The interventions included the replacement of undersized conductors, the installation of a new 160 kVA concrete envelope transformer (PTAB) substation, the modernization of the support infrastructure and the restoration of the grounding systems according to current technical standards. The works were carried out with the simultaneous mobilization of over 24 electricians and in permanent coordination with the specialists of Distribuție Energie Oltenia.

At the level of the entire project, over 100 km of medium and low voltage electricity networks are modernized, 24 transformer substations are installed and modernized and the 110/20 kV Strehaia transformer station is reequipped, including through the installation of a new 25 MVA power transformer. In parallel, the infrastructure is ready for intelligent operation through integration into SCADA and ADMS systems, the expansion of fiber optic communications and the implementation of modern measurement and monitoring solutions.

The project also includes the installation of more than 1,500 smart meters and 24 balance meters with remote metering, essential elements for the development of the Smart Grid concept and for optimizing the operation of the grid. Through these investments, the distribution operator gains better visibility into the functioning of the infrastructure and can intervene more quickly in the event of incidents.

Through its scale and complexity, the project in Butoiești contributes to the development of a modern energy infrastructure, capable of integrating new consumers and prosumers, reducing network losses and providing more reliable services for the community. The investment represents an important step in the process of digitization of electricity distribution and in the transition to smart and sustainable grids.
