Modernization of connections to reduce own technological consumption (CPT) in the municipality of Râmnicu Vâlcea

The reduction of own technological consumption (CPT) and the modernization of the metering infrastructure are important objectives for electricity distribution operators. In this context, ADREM has carried out for Distribuție Energie Oltenia a project to modernize the electrical connections in the municipality of Râmnicu Vâlcea, aimed at increasing the efficiency of the network and improving the operating conditions of the metering groups.

The project involved the reconfiguration and modernization of the electrical installations related to several collective buildings by installing distribution and metering (FDCP) wires, located on the stairwells, as well as by replacing the supply infrastructure and individual columns of consumers. The implemented solution allows the centralization and accessibility of the metering groups, facilitating the operation, verification and intervention activities for both the distribution operator and the consumers.

As part of the works, 49 FDCP wires were installed to supply consumers, 39 single-phase measurement and protection blocks (BMPM) were installed and new underground cable routes were made to power the equipment. At the same time, grounding works were carried out, connection boxes were installed and the supply columns of the apartments were replaced with over 16 kilometers of new cable, installed in dedicated channels.

An important stage of the project consisted in the relocation and integration of the metering groups in the new installations. In total, 885 electricity meters were relocated and put into operation, of which 884 single-phase and one three-phase meter. At the end of the works, all the newly built elements were entered into the operator’s GIS system, together with the topographic coordinates and the complete identification of the objectives.

The project was carried out in a period of approximately 100 calendar days, with the simultaneous involvement of eight specialized teams made up of measurement and maintenance electricians. The complexity of the works was generated mainly by the need to obtain agreements from the owners’ associations and by the coordination of interventions in inhabited spaces, without significantly affecting the comfort of the tenants.

By implementing this investment, Distribuție Energie Oltenia benefits from the reduction of technological losses in the network, increased security in supplying consumers and optimization of operation and maintenance processes. At the same time, consumers benefit from modernized installations and faster and more efficient interventions on metering groups.
